I was contacted by a concerned mother, who sent me this email:

We were out looking for pre-schools with Christopher, our 4 year old son. We attended the open house for a preschool run by a large Catholic church in North Beach. It seemed like a good fit until I saw Christopher sitting in the corner, staring at nothing. I went over to see what he was doing, he was nodding and saying things like “uhhuh, no, yes”. Then he turned, smiled at me and ran off to play with the other kids.

That night I woke up very late and Christopher was standing next to the bed, muttering. I asked him what was wrong and he spoke to me. Christopher knows Spanish and English, the language he spoke was neither. I took him to bed and tucked him in.

A few days later I go into his room, Christopher was sitting on his bed, facing the corner, rocking back and forth and speaking in this other language. I touched his shoulder and he turned, I don’t know how to explain it but he looked at me with eyes that were not his.

We took him to the doctor who ran some tests and found nothing wrong with his brain or chemical balance. What the hell is going on?

I immediately called and set up an appointment to first visit with mom, then Christopher.

The home, built in 1924 and remodeled in 2006, had no history of  hauntings and as I arrived all I felt was the energy of the family. Sitting down with the mother, I calm her down and have her go over all the events as she had experienced them. I also went over the history of both the house and the Church where this started and discovered that the current location of the church was also completed in 1924, but founded in 1884 by the Salesian order.

I explained that I wanted to take video and pictures of Christopher’s room as well as record the upcoming conversation with the child, hopefully catching an EVP or two. With the mother’s permission, I set up. We were going to be talking in the dining room

Time came for me to meet Christopher. As soon as that little boy walked in I could see a misty hand on his shoulder. It didn’t feel like a possession, but there was definitely a link. Sitting down with Christopher, I talked with him first to make sure he knew the difference between himself and others (Phalen, my son, sometimes has a fluid sense of self) and to make certain that he only knew Spanish and English. I settled him for meditation. The spirit came up almost instantly, the boy’s voice changed pitch as well as language. I was actually relieved to recognize the language, big thanks to my Italian cousin, who insisted that I learn to at least recognize  basic Italian and to whomever thought up online translation apps.

The following conversation is transcribed exactly as it was recorded. In parentheses I’ve put the translation.

I could feel the energy split between the spirit and child. I pulled a protective bubble around the house and called the Archangel Azrael. The joy radiating off Gio almost made me cry. I watched the young man embrace the angel and they both glowed. I heard the laughter of a small child just as the light got too bright for my senses. Then they were gone.

I’ll be following up with the family in a few weeks to make sure everything has calmed down and returned to normal.

The Ghost Dog

I’ve talked about our ghost cat, Monrico, he’s been here for a long time. Recently though we became a two spirit pet house.
I was heading out of the house, a large SUV screeches to a halt in the parking spot right in front. A woman hops out, looks into her back seat then across the street to the veterinary hospital. She gently lifts a young gray and brindle pit bull from the vehicle. I asked if she needed help carrying her across the street. The woman said no but could I sit with her [dog] while she ran across to get the paperwork? So I sat with the sweet girl’s head in my lap, petting her soft noggin. The woman came back and started filling out paperwork. Apparently the dog, who looked well fed and is very gentle, stumbled in her front door a few hours before and no one in the neighborhood wanted to claim her. The dog was very sick so the woman came right over with her.
She had a few things to fill out and went back and forth across the street a few times while I sat with this sweet soul in my lap, I whispered gently about things that I think dog’s would like, including “you can come to my house, we’ll play chase and stuff”. When she came out of the vehicle she felt so scared but over the course of an hour she calmed, even wagged her tail a bit.
Finally the woman came out, a vet tech trailing behind. The tech picked her up, I gave her a gentle hug and told her to not be scared, and they went into the building. I took a moment to pray for the sweet baby, then went on my way with errands.
The next morning I woke up and noticed a dog sized indent on the end of the bed. Getting up and going about my morning routine I heard a light clicking noise, like doggy toenails on hardwood, and felt the warm pressure of something leaning against my legs. When I finally went in to get the boys up, both twins (Phalen was still asleep) pointed at my feet and gleefully proclaimed, “PUPPY!!! puppypuppypuppy bwoof bwoof!”
I don’t know about anyone else but that was the final confirmation I needed, the sweet soul of the dog I sat with the day before came to stay with us.
Monrico, well I couldn’t tell if he was ever pleased with anything when he was a flesh and blood kitty but he seems to enjoy the company. Phalen, Rowan and Ronan love playing with our dog (she seems to like the name, Daisy) though Phalen has told me that he wishes she was an alive pet so he could put a hat on her, I told him to make an energy hat for her to wear and I think he has. My husband seems to enjoy Daisy as well, I’ve seen him reach down to stroke the air by his leg when he’s on the computer.

My Ghost Story: My Dead Friend

In March of 1990 my family moved from the Sunset district of San Francisco to the Richmond district, into a house built just after the 1906 earthquake. My mother put a painting up in my room,’Two Girls at the Piano’ by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The first night in my new room I heard a shuffling and the distinct sound of boxes moving. In the morning the boxes of my stuffed animals had been opened and the floor was strewn with toys. I looked up at the painting and saw a third girl peeking out from behind the curtain. I went and told my mother, “such an imagination!” was the response.

The next day the girl was standing behind the blond, she was wearing a light purple dress with a darker purple ribbon around her waist and in hair that was so dark brown that it was nearly black. The day after that she was next to the brunette. Every day, nearly every time I looked at the painting, the girl was in different places in the frame.

Two or so months into this I woke up in the middle of the night. The girl was standing at the foot of my bed. She was smiling, but her eyes looked so sad. I asked her what was wrong. Her lips moved when she answered but I heard her in my head more than with my ears. She told me that she was happy that I could see her but sad that I was not her sister. She asked if she could stay, she was lonely. Being a little lonely myself I was delighted to have a new friend.

My parents assumed that she was an invisible friend. I tried to explain to them that I did not make her up. Her name was Kelly and she lived here before our house was built. I asked Kelly to help me prove it to my parents. Soon after that, when my mother or father would put something down it would vanish and reappear in strange places, paperwork in the freezer, makeup in the shower etc. Imagine my frustration when they would explain those things away as ‘absentmindedness’.

Things started to get complicated as I got older and started having living friends over. Kelly would mess with their things, make noises and even shoved a particularly nasty ‘friend’ into a closet. I was so used to her that I would include Kelly in conversation and when things would vanish I would demand that she return them, out loud, in front of my friends. It was hard for me to understand that they couldn’t perceive Kelly like I did. Sleepovers slowly stopped happening at my house, other kids found it too creepy, found me too creepy. It made me sad but I figured that they didn’t get to see Kelly for some reason. The same reason why they didn’t notice the dog that freaked out the class pet.
When I was nine Kelly finally told me her truth. She asked me to go to the main library, into the newspapers from 1906. I searched for hours, not really knowing what I was supposed to see.

Then I got to March of 1906, third column, second down.

I remember sitting for a long time after reading the obituary. One of my best friends, the girl my parents described as “her stubborn invisible friend”, had been dead more than 80 years. Somehow I knew that she was a spirit, no one else still had ‘invisible friends’, no one else had to try and explain strange noises and moving objects.

It wasn’t until I was in High school, when I started to really come into my own as a clairvoyant, that I was able to help my little friend cross over.

Kelly Baker, my first ghost, my longest ghost. The one who still brings a smile to my face.

The Color Game

On top of being a clairvoyant, I have been trained as a Lightworker. Someone who uses the energies of ‘the Light’ in different ways to effect people and otherworldly entities. I’ve cleared demons and other negative entities out of people who ask for help. I can see energies on people, black or red areas can be an indicator of illness or injury and in those cases I can remove the bad energies and replace it with pure white light energy and green healing light energy. Sometimes it helps to envision the healing light as an article of clothing or jewelry, like a green smoke ring scarf for a sore throat or earmuffs for an ear infection, even a thick ring over an arthritic finger. Skeptics would say that what I do causes a placebo effect, the person thinks that they’re getting healed so they feel better, but I have seen truly miraculous recoveries that were more than placebo.

One morning I was working on my husband’s foot. he was sitting on the couch in the living room and I was in the kitchen, the great part about lightwork is that you don’t need to stop what you’re doing to work it. So breakfast was getting made and my oldest son, we’ll call him Phalen, comes in. He asked me, “mummum, why is Da wearing a green sock over his regular socks? why are your fingers green?” Hold the phone, what? Phalen had been showing early signs of seeing spirits since he was two but I honestly was not prepared for this. He could see the sock I was ‘knitting’ over my husband’s foot? This called for further study.

Later in the day I sat him down at his little table and we played what is now known in our house as “The Color Game”.   
I put my hands palm up on the table, make an energy field over them and infuse them with a color (first round was blue). He puts his hands an inch from mine, palms down and closes his eyes. After a few moments he blurts out “blue!”. Second round I did a non primary color, Orange. He got that one faster than he got blue. Round three was even more difficult, I imagined a golden delicious apple. Phalen scrunched his face, then looked at me and said, “mummum! apples aren’t yellow!”

Whoa.

Time to see if the game worked both ways. I got six new crayons, pulled the wrappers off them so they would all feel the same and put them near him. I closed my eyes and told him to pick a color and imagine it running from his head down to his hands and then into my hands. Then he would hand me the crayon and I would scribble with it on a piece of paper and say the color out loud before opening my eyes. We did it four times: Green, Brown, Red then Brown again.

I told him that for now he should only play the game with me, I want him to develop whatever skills he has at a nice slow pace. I know I was overwhelmed when my abilities were blown open and that was college, I don’t want that to happen to my four year old son. He asked again what green was so I told him that it makes people feel better and he left it at that.

We play The Color Game every so often, he likes the way his hands tickle during the game. Though I’m pretty sure that he healed his fish, the Betta was nearly dead and when I came home one day the entire tank had a faint green glow to it, and the fish was good as new. Phalen had a pretty self satisfied smile when I went into his room to tuck him in that night. I couldn’t bring myself to be cross with him, he really loves that fish and what good is having skills if you can’t use them to help those you love?

INTERVIEW with LAURA BROWN PSYCHIC MEDIUM

How did you get into do psychic readings?
Having always had gifts and the ability to “know” what I had no reasonable explanation for knowing I decided when I was quite young to start doing it professionally. I realized that helping family and friends was great but there were ways to reach a broader audience and to impact the lives of many instead of just a few. Though it sounds horrifically cliche, I genuinely wanted to help people.

What the biggest message you have for the world?

My message for the world is to  “Let go and let be”. We, as a society, seem to be in such a hurry. What’s the biggest way for someone to help their self?


To take responsibility for our experience is the greatest means through which we can help ourselves. Instead of blaming the significant other who did us wrong or the job that we lost, the boss who passed us up for that much anticipated promotion, we must accept responsibility for our station in life, at present and let go. Learning from our past does not equate to HOLDING on to our past. When we realize that our evolution in the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual has more to do with our choices, actions and discipline we begin to take a more active role…we stop blaming and we become an active participant in our lives.

Would you be open to having scientist study you?

This is a difficult question for me because while I understand the great strides provided in scientific exploration I think that some things, such as the Spirit, cannot be reduced to facts and figures.

Just an FYI I’d totally loved to be studied. I want to find out how to use more of our brains instead of the little 10% we use. You know? What the most profound experience you’ve had with your ability?

About 2-4 months after my mothers passing I was meditating, breathing in and out to a count of 5 and within about 5 minutes of doing this I felt a cool breeze go by me, flickering the candle and my moms voice whispering my name in my right ear. Even having had experience with mediumship in the past this rocked me to my core and was a very emotional experience for me.

I could imagine. Event a small gester is something most won’t experience in their lifetime. Name a few celebrities you would love to read in person?

Do you have any predictions for anything or anyone? The World? The United States of American? For a celebrity or for me?


On a large scale our society is entering a very profound transformation. This shift will occur differently for everyone, but it will affect everyone on both an internal and external fashion. Major governmental systems will have to adapt and change with this shift or the citizens will revolt, sometimes peacefully and sometimes not. This shift will impact our daily lives, how we see the world and what we do with our lives. Professions which we once clung to because of the monetary compensation or personal power we THOUGHT they endowed us with will no longer be as important. We will find that our focus starts to simultaneously go internal and external. Our human family is a term used more and more…whereas the past several hundred years have focused in on the pursuit of personal goals, the notion of the self before all others, this phase will usher in a time when be realize we are all interconnected and that what happens with one happens to us all.  If used properly, if those who are aware of these shifts help to guide everyone, this is going to be a magnificent time for the human experience. The closest to utopia that we will experience in the physical form.

Soon I will have a section on my blog where I listen to a psychic give a reading and then I write an article on the experience, accuracy, how they read, what information they got etc…are you open to that type of experiment?

A Mystical and Unexplored World “Nurse Shaman”

As a psychic I am on a quest for understanding. A quest for the strange and unique. I want to be the psychic’s Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Here I will uncover what I find. I have been a Nurse for 30 years. Active in Metaphysics since 1988. I was ordained in 2003 and completed Shamanic initiation in 2009. My path is what I call Multicultural Shamanism.  I hold degrees in Nursing, Fine Arts and Metaphysical and Religious education. Background
My parents are from Germany.  I was raised in Minnesota and I’ve always had an affinity for the Native American.  My guide who I call Peter has been with me since I was a child.  The Paranormal always interest me and I did my first readings as a Gypsy fortune teller at a fund raising carnival at age 10.  My mother often spoke of superstitions and could tell you who was on the phone before they called, but I was not lead to be a psychic. They were of the era to keep quiet about what you hear and see. They may put you in the mental hospital if you see things and talk to people that are not there.
My near death experience happened during the wild 80′s! I died and went out of my body. This set me on a path to study Yoganada and SRF, I started having visions again. I had them when I was 18, but shut them out.
In 1999 I seriously began studying Pagan and Pre-Christian Religions, but I did not receive my calling to be a Shaman until 2000 and I didn’t answer it til’ 2003. My study of Holistic Nursing and energy healing was the thread that connected me. It was Isis and Egyptian religions of the Goddess that opened my Third eye and then the flood of information started. The message was given to me that I was not only to be a High Priestess, but much more. A Shaman would be the name to use since I could now access the wisdom of many lives and cross to the other realms. I found teachers and mentors in many different areas of metaphysics and healing.
My final Shamanic initiation journey was in Sedona. I was given the final information as I journeyed with my animal guides to the underworld and to the top of the mountain.
What is a Nurse Shaman?

Nurse Shaman is a phrase that I have coined to sum up my Metaphysical and Healing Path.  It combines all the knowledge of modern medical care and education provided by Nurses with the Spiritual and Holistic Knowledge of the ages. A Shaman has the gift of healing, psychic and empathic vision.  Nurse Shaman is the modern Wise Woman, a community leader and healer and educator

How is this skill used? I ask because, I don’t completely understand Shamanism though I do use Shamanic Practitioners.

Using the knowledge from both these realms I am able to help people find healing of Body, Mind and Spirit. An example of this would be a client with chronic indigestion and stomach trouble that has been through all the modern medicines and continues to suffer. I use counseling techniques, energy healing to balance chakras, regression techniques to help the individual find root causes for the dis-ease; Education on nutrition and triggers, provide counseling on how to work with allopathic providers to integrate holistic modalities along with modern medical treatments. I also use my Psychic and Empathic gifts to help the client uncover hidden things and connect to spirit. Using all these things a client can learn to let go of stresses and find true health. Each client has their own path and visioning techniques can help them find it. It is an interactive process with the Shaman leading the way.

How has your Shamanism helped your clients?
My abilities as a Medical Intuitive have helped my Patients in the traditional healthcare setting. I was able to sense and see complications before they happened. I have used energy work to help reduce the need for narcotic pain medications. I have helped those with Chronic illness uncover the root causes to their pain and sickness over come the belief of Medical Diagnosis being life sentences.

How has it been effective in nursing?

My Shamanic vision and sense have helped in so many ways. As a direct care Nurse I have always used my gifts to help my patients.  I have been able to calm and help patients in families in crisis, with my understanding of the Spiritual world I have been able to help even if the outcome is transition from the world. Shamanic knowledge makes dealing with death and tragedy less stressful. I have helped a client facing amputation of their leg restore arterial flow and avoid surgery, using Energy Healing and Visualization.  As a Nursing Supervisor my intuition came in very handy. I could show up before I was paged and intervene before a situation became a full blown crisis.  These skills help me to be a better Nursing educator I tune into to my students and show up with what they need when they need it.

Are you the world’s only Shamanic Nurse that you know of or are there more?

I am the only one using the Term that I know of, but I know there are many very spiritual nurses of all paths that are using there personal gifts matter of factly to what is needed for their patients. The Holistic Nursing Movement is well into 25+  years all these paths and modalities could be counted as Shamanic Practice.

Does being a Shaman have anything to do with being a psychic?

Shamans do have the ability to see beyond to veil and cross over to other realms. They do have the gifts of mediumship and communication with Spirits. Psychic Vision is a tool the Shaman uses in their work.  Astral travel and dreamtime work are also included.

What is a Shaman by your definition?

A Shaman is a Wise one. An Educator, a Healer and Spiritual Advisor. Their path to heal the individual down to the soul level as well a improve the community as a whole. It is a calling, one that I feel can’t be ignored. A Shaman uses all resources available in the physical and metaphysical worlds.

Who do you most want to help in this lifetime?
Not easy (laughs) I want to help everyone.
I want to provide Body, Mind and Spirit Health for all. I feel we have been sidetracked from our soul missions. Modern society has placed too much emphasis on the quick fix, take a pill. My goal to help people get off unnecessary medications and experience true health.  I am currently Teaching Nurses and Paraprofessionals, by sharing my knowledge of Holistic and Metaphysical modalities I hope to change the way healthcare is looked at and provided. We must bring back compassionate care and treat others as we would like to be treated. Years ago working in the Cardiovascular ICU my nurse colleagues and I decided;The best thing you can do for a patient is to simply Hold their Hand and let them know you care. Spiritual Principles must be part of the care model for the future.

Testimonials are important and I have posted  a few, but I am not a person who needs a lot of testimonials for my website simply because one person’s junk is another persons treasure. If one person had a great experience with me it doesn’t mean the next person will. This how ever touched me, because I know the feeling of having someone you love contact you from the other side.  They strain to get their vibration slower and at our level so we can hear  and see them. They do this because there is someone that they love that was left behind.

I’ve found that personality doesn’t change much, they are a bit more enlightened for the most part, but they have the same sense of humor, do the same things; like touch your face while you sleep, kiss your lips, hold you, tell you they love you, laugh with you, keep their energetic hand over your heart so you can feel them and make love to you in some way  (see: Travel Channel’s Ghostly Lovers airing at 11pm tonight). It’s such a beautiful connection.

I feel blessed and oddly grounded being able to help so many people. I do what I do because I care, I feel compelled to do it, but I don’t always realize how I have helped someone…not until I get wonderful, beautiful notes from clients such as the one above. I am truly thankful for the work that I do. I am thankful that people trust me enough to put their hearts in my hands. This is work I am honored to do.

This planet can be dense, dark, scary, and unforgiving most of the time for most people, but some where there is a light. I’m thankful to witness it and be a part of it.

I understand science. I was a science freak in school! I loved it…I know that our brain carries brain waves and those transmissions can be “picked up” by other living beings. It can effect moods, and change peoples minds etc…but when it comes to ghost. I don’t see the point of holding the experiment if the whole plan seems only to call it all physiological.  No matter what the people felt, did or experienced it seems like they would never admit this can be left over energy from a living being, or is a spirit. I say do better test and get real results. This seems like bogus hewy fewy. I mean…I am a skeptic. Show me some proof. Is it or isn’t it? Guessing isn’t science.

Prof Wiseman does not believe the experiences were paranormal

A scientist investigating one of the UK’s “most haunted” locations has said “something quite odd” was going on.

Professor Richard Wiseman used 200 volunteers to carry out a study of Mary King’s Close in Edinburgh.

It yielded reports of apparitions, phantom footsteps, unexplained cold spots and unseen hands.

But Prof Wiseman does not believe the experiences were paranormal. He said environmental and psychological factors were responsible for the hauntings.

Strong reputation

Mary King’s Close is a warren of underground streets sealed off from the outside world more than two centuries ago.

It became entombed when Edinburgh’s Royal Exchange – now the City Chambers – was built in 1753.

The top floors of the houses were demolished and the lower floors incorporated into its foundations.

The rooms of many houses still exist, and according to some reports, so do a number of their former residents.

Prof Wisemen sent groups of volunteers to four locations, without telling them that only two sites had a strong reputation for being haunted.

The aim was to compare reports from the different sites.

More than 200 people visited Mary King’s Close for the study

About 70% of those visiting the “haunted” locations reported unusual phenomena.

In contrast, only 48% of people exploring the locations not reputed to be haunted had spooky experiences.

At the “most haunted” site, where a sinister figure in black has repeatedly been seen, more than 80% of the volunteers reported something strange happening.

“There was a massive difference between the locations,” said the professor from the University of Hertfordshire.

“Sometimes people just felt very cold, but there were some quite extreme experiences – feelings of being watched, being touched and having clothing pulled, apparitions of people and animals, and footsteps. I was really surprised at the extent of the experiences.”

Experiments by the researchers showed that the two “haunted” locations were significantly less humid than the other sites.
