STEPHEN COLBERT IS PLAYBOY’S NOVEMBER INTERVIEW

A Candid Conversation with Comedy Central’s Other Satiric Genius about Politics, Grief, Growing Up and Why It’s Terrible When Bill O’Reilly Acts Normally

“I have no interest in behaving or thinking cynically. But it’s an easy trap to be cynical about anything, certainly when you’re talking about politics or the media,” said Comedy Central’s faux news pundit Stephen Colbert. Or more accurately, the character he plays “Stephen Colbert.” Playboy’s November Interview reveals Colbert’s serious side. After suffering the loss of a parent as a child, Colbert found solace in science fiction and acting.  He wound up the host of a top ranked primetime talk show, and this year was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World. Following are selected quotes from the comedian’s November Playboy Interview (issue on newsstands and i.Playboy.com Friday, October 19, with the complete interview available at www.playboy.com/stephencolbert):

On being his alter ego, “Stephen Colbert”: “Some people perceive me as an assassin or at least someone who can slip under your guard with a knife. But if you watch what I do, that’s almost never the case. It rarely turns into anything combative.”

On his right-wing counterparts: “Take Mr. Bill O’Reilly. He was a perfectly lovely guest, but he wouldn’t be his personality. He wasn’t an unpleasant person. I have no complaints other than the fact that I booked Bill O’Reilly and I got William O’Reilly.”

On human behavior: “I’m surprised there aren’t more unbalanced people in the world, because being alive is not easy. We’re just not that nice to one another. We’re all we have, and Jesus, are we sh*tty to one another. We really are.”

On joining a cult: “I’m interested in what makes someone a cult figure and what engenders cult adherence, what engenders that behavior … I’d love to be a cult member, just another loyal follower. It sounds very comforting.”

On his friendship with Jon Stewart: “I would say the thing that has kept me from being as good a friend to Jon as I would like is just that I’m such a fan. I am gobsmacked by his abilities. But that being said, we go out to dinner, and we sometimes pick up the phone just to say, ‘How are you?’ Or, ‘Do you mind if I tell you how I am? I had a shitty week.’”

On fear: “I suppose fear is like a drug. A little bit isn’t that bad, but you can get addicted to the consumption and distribution of it. What’s evil is the purposeful distribution of fear … If you’re injecting fear into other people, then you’re trying to kill their minds. You’re trying to get them to stop thinking … Fear is an attempt to impose tyranny over someone’s mind. It’s an act of oppression.”

On the death of his father and brother (in a plane crash when Colbert was 10): “Any curiosity I have probably comes from my dad. He was a big thinker, a true intellectual. His idea of a good time was to read French philosophy, often French Christian philosophy

On grief: “It’s just as keen but not as present. But it will always accept the invitation. Grief will always accept the invitation to appear. It’s got plenty of time for you … I’ve always liked that phrase He was visited by grief, because that’s really what it is. On his teenage science fiction fandom: “In some ways it was about escape. I think there’s absolute truth in escaping the reality of your present predicament. And that can just be about being young. It doesn’t have to be a tragedy. There’s a tragedy to being 13. Things are changing. Friends are changing. Your body is changing. You need to escape that. My additional emotional crises don’t necessarily explain my interest in it.”

On extending his contract through 2014: “I try not to think of it in terms of years. You can’t do 161 shows. It can’t be done. All I can do is today and tomorrow and have some idea of what we’re doing next week. That’s all I can worry about. I have a script for today, I have probably half a script for tomorrow, and that’s as far down the road as I ever look. I know the mechanism of my show, and I know how it works. There’s a joy in that.”

On predicting the future: “I have no exhaustion in doing the show. I have no idea what’s going to happen tomorrow. I can’t predict what we’ll be trying to make jokes about in the next six months. I don’t know what the next super PAC game will be for us or who will win the election. You can’t plan for any of that. If I thought I knew what was going to happen, it wouldn’t be worth doing. The challenge is how joyfully, with what sense of fun and adventure and playfulness, we will greet it. We don’t have to look for what the next thing will be. If experience is any judge, it’ll come flowing toward us like a river.”

This past Saturday, CB2 played host to their annual PRIDE Kick-off party with The Trevor Project hosted by Lance Bass at their West Hollywood store.

As many of you know, I support the Gay and Lesbian community (LBGT.) Many of my family, friends or clients are gay. CB2 was not on my radar until today, but looking at what they do I am amazed and want to support them!!

Lance, a huge fan of CB2, attended with boyfriend Michael Turchin and both were very excited to be a part of the event and heighten awareness for The Trevor Project – who played Grand Marshall in the Parade on Sunday.  Lance went home with 2 of the “Accept and Be” posters (retail $19.95 each) which were exclusively created for CB2 by designer Mathew Lew – all proceeds directly benefit The Trevor Project (available at CB2 stores nationwide as well as cb2.com.

Cassandra's Secret Cycle Guide

Numerology! A Year Long Forecast: just for you in hardcover book $150.00 numereology, Tarot and psychic… www.beta.cassandramacleane.com

When I was around eight years old, my friend Marcy and I found a copy of Robert Frost’s poems while we were rummaging in my uncle Ralph’s bedroom. Uncle Ralph was single, and based on his reputation, and bachelor status, and the tendency of the members on the paternal side of my family to create cousins who were “born on the wrong side of the blanket,” we thought we were doing something wicked when we used to sneak into Uncle Ralph’s room and read Robert Frost poems to each other. Somehow it was even more fun than reading my aunt Marion’s books about contraception. As adults, Marcy and I both have strong literary leanings. Perhaps Robert Frost was partly responsible.
To find out what April has in store for you, calculate your key number by adding the day and month of your birth. Continue adding until you arrive at a single digit. For example, if your birthday is October 14, your personal number is determined as follows: 10 + 14 = 24. Then 2 + 4 = 6, and you have the key number (6) that you will keep for life.

Key number 1
In this exciting cycle month, re-create yourself. Focus your energy on what is new, bright and original, in work, romance or even in your home environment. This is a time for new beginnings; particularly, it is a time for new attitudes to be developed around the questions of self-esteem and relationships. Plant seeds for the future, remembering that in this month every thought, word and deed is a seed for what you will harvest at the end of this year. So plant wisely and plan well.

Key number 2
Under the cycle energy of this month, it is important to be nice. Nice! Nice! And Nice. Be co-operative, helpful and willing to work in the background. Cultivate patience, as things are likely to move more slowly than you might want them to. Don’t start arguments with anyone who has a stronger personality than you have; you are bound to lose, and under this cycle energy, you are so sensitive that it will be hard for you to bounce back. Stay in integrity even though it may be easier to let your nose grow than to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Key number 3
This is a party month. Last month, your cycle energy was extremely sensitive and a little repressed, but this month you are allowed to live out loud and shine. Flutter your social butterfly wings in any situation that promises to be the least bit lighthearted. Entertain people with your wit. If you are not inclined to be extroverted, this is a time to be extremely creative. Solutions to problems will spring easily to mind and will almost always be from the “thinking outside the box” part of your brain.

Key number 4
This is a serious cycle month. Hard work and attention to detail are essential in order to survive it. Cross your t’s and dot your i’s in every aspect of your life. Expect small tests and challenges to pop up, especially in personal relationships. In career life or home life, stay very focused and conscious—avoid reaching for your phone while you are cooking, and using your cell phone while driving is like asking the gods and goddesses of luck to turn their backs on you.

Key number 5
Under the energy of this cycle month, you will need to let your inner wild man/woman out to play. It is a vigorous energy, full of restlessness and willingness to wander and investigate life outside the box. Revel in the freedom it affords. Take risks in many areas of life, especially the creative area. Think before you speak, which will not be easy under this energy. Sarcasm or criticism will get you into a great deal of trouble, especially with loved ones. Do your best to be tactful and supportive, which will be easy.

Key number 6
Last month was the month of floating freely. This cycle-month energy is very much about burrowing into a cocoon of domestic safety. You will probably find that your list of duties will include taking care of others in various ways. This is a family energy, so do not try to escape keeping in touch with loved ones, or being a good Samaritan to the people you come across in your daily life. Under this energy, you will actually enjoy being a goody-goody. It will feel natural, so don’t resist it. If you like to cook, this is a good time for cooking. If you don’t, you may want to take a few lessons to see if you can develop an interest.

Growing Up Psychic

Author: Psychic Medium Chip Coffey

Book Review By: Belinda Bentley

Today, April 3, 2012 Growing Up Psychic will be released. When I received the book last week, I was excited to read it, but I didn’t have high hopes for anything amazing or extraordinary to pop out of the page. I’ve read many psychic books over the years. They are all different and informative and some even life changing, but after years, and years of pouring over this information you find things a bit repetitive, redundant.

I will tell you now…go pick up your own personal copy of this book!! The material written is excellent for the seasoned psychic, paranormal enthusiast, avid paranormal reader or someone new to it all. I began reading this book and couldn’t put it down. If it was repetitive of any other information out there I didn’t notice, because it was put in a new fresh way. It was almost like a suspense story – what will happen next? It’s gripping when Chip Coffey relayed his own extraordinary paranormal experiences. I stayed up until 5am reading, falling asleep with the book still in my hand.  I honestly was having a difficult time putting it down.

Growing Up Psychic pretty much touched on everything – I don’t think Coffey, held back much. He took the initiative to cover what fans loved about Psychic Kids. The abilities, triumphs, successes, and the experiences beyond what you’ve seen on TV. Then he took to covering the psychological aspect as well as the psychic one too. It was extremely entertaining, but profoundly helpful and informative in a way no other psychic book has been.

As entertaining as it was I also feel that a lot of parents of psychic kids, or adults who were psychic kids will get comfort knowing that they aren’t alone. This book, in my own personal opinion, can save many children and parents from some physiological damage. The damaged caused by not understanding the supernatural. This is a book I’d recommend families read together.

A neighbor of mine, many years ago,  recounted a time her husband had her put in a mental institution because she saw her dead mother and heard voices. She proved she was psychic, but it scared her due to the trauma of being put away for having a sixth sense. This book would have indeed comforted her and maybe even her family. How many families may now benefit from this information?

I’ll definitely be recommending this book to others and it really couldn’t come at a better time. This book is a voice for anyone who grew up psychic and those who want to understand them.

How to get a copy?

Critic’s note: I am never paid to write a review on books or to try a product. The views here are solely the views of Belinda Bentley.

An emotional roller coaster: Your numerology cycles for March 16–31

Sunshine and rain, or sunshine and sleet, this month is a mixed bag, and it’s emotionally mixed as well. Early spring on the West Coast has many compensations, but it’s an emotional roller coaster. To find out what the rest of March has in store for you, calculate your key number by adding the day and month of your birth. Continue adding until you arrive at a single digit. For example, if your birthday is October 14, your personal number is determined as follows: 10 + 14 = 24. Then 2 + 4 = 6, and you have the key number (6) that you will keep for life.

Key number 1

In the last two weeks of this month, you must continue your real and metaphoric closet cleaning. Grit your teeth and be ruthless. Look at your relationships and your dreams, and be willing to be totally realistic. Whatever is working for you now should be kept, and perhaps refurbished, and then you should move forward with it. What is not working must be discarded. On another note, this is the time when your charisma will sparkle. Pay attention to who is paying attention to you. This is the end of a minor cycle, but the end contains the seeds of new beginnings, so keep a close eye on what’s happening around you, as it is bound to be the start of something good.

Key number 2

In the last two weeks of the month, it is important to continue your search for what you really want in your life. Plan for the future. And be sure to take action on your plans. Be kind to those around you. There is a tendency under this cycle energy to be cranky and demanding in your rush to revamp your life. However, if family members or partners do anything to slow your forward movement, convince them to step aside: you are a force of nature.

Key number 3

Continue to stay in the shadows. Next month you can sing and dance on tables, if you are so inclined, but under this energy, especially in the last two weeks of the month, be quiet, modest, and helpful from the background. Your ability to quiet discordant situations will be much appreciated by those around you. There is another side to this energy, though; it is a time when retail therapy is bound to be extremely helpful, and even healing. A few new pieces for your spring wardrobe are strongly advised. A trip to Winners? A very good idea!

Key number 4

Continue to flap your social butterfly wings, but also allow time to take care of your duties. Avoid scattering your energy too thinly. Under this cycle energy, you are easily distracted. As much as possible, keep balance in work and play. Use your imagination to solve problems, remembering that this is one of the most creative energies you will experience for a long time. You may be tempted to use your charm to manipulate those around you. Think this through. Remember that what goes around comes around. If you fall out of integrity now, there will be a price to pay in the future.

Key number 5

Continue to work on being orderly, efficient, economical and rational. Sounds like a big order, but it is the only strategy that will really work to get you through the last two weeks of this month. If you are feeling as if you are caught in a box in some areas of your life, work at what you find inside the box—time flies and this cycle energy will soon be over. If you can keep to a routine, physical and mental, you will be successful in all you do, though you may not see the results of your success until a couple of months forward. This is the energy of the beaver, so take a twig from her dam and chew on it. If you can embody discipline, hard work, and humour, then, like the beaver, you will be successful in whatever you are building and have fun doing it.

Cassandra’s Accurate Predictions: Cassamdra MacLeane Accurately Predictions Using Tarot and Numerology!

Psychic Medium Thomas John has been making accurate predictions for years. At the beginning of the year he made 99 predictions on his website www.mediumthomas.com, as well as his Blog Talk Radio podcast.  Many are celebrity and Hollywood related. Below we’ll get the 2012 scoop on Tinsletown starlets such as 2011 Oscar winner Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Aniston and leading men like Brad Pit and Tom Cruise. Thomas gives us headlines before they happens! We’ll also cover some predictions he covered that have come to pass. What do you think 2012 will bring?

“In 2012 I see a new boyfriend for new mother Sandra Bullock. It’s time to get her love life in order. This time I feel it will work out for her, and someone she will be with for the rest of her life. The relationship is simple and stable, and I feel that they end up doing a lot of work together. I feel it will be someone with the first initial of R.”

“I get a strong sense Jennifer Aniston will announce she is pregnant! Keep your eyes out for her great news mid to late year. Her ex Brad Pit seems to going through his own changes this year. I see the relationship between him and Angelina Jolie will end, but he will quickly move on to a new relationship, though he will continue to be a devoted father of his six children. However, I don’t think those two will be over for good—I see them reconnecting quickly after the break-up, and possibly reconciling.”

“In January on my website I predicted health issues with Whitney Houston and I also predicted a queen of soul would die. Unfortunately, both Etta James, a great soul legend, and Whitney Houston, both passed this year. I also see the passing of another star associated with country music. I probably didn’t have to be psychic to know Adele would sweep almost all of the music award shows this year. She’s a very talented and amazing artist and she made it happen just as I saw it.”

“More predictions, talk show host Ellen will announce she plans to adopt a child`. Tom Cruise maybe ending it with his current wife Katie Holmes and he might be planning to show off his vocal talents on a Broadway show. There is change all around him this year. Gaga goes gaga for a new beau, unknown male not in the limelight currently, has dark hair and handsome features. Jessica Simpson I believe will be starting a new line of clothing could be maternity wear. This will not be a profitable venture. American Idol will be voted off the air—I’m seeing news that the show is coming to an end. Katie Couric’s new TV show receives low marks. Kim Kardashian will enter a new relationship with a man she eventually will marry. William and Kate publicly announce a baby, possibly twins, and major health concerns emerge in the news about Muhammad Ali, Liza Minelli, Lady Gaga, and Donald Trump.”

The Schizophrenic Psychic

By Belinda Bentley

“What kind of ghost is it that can lock doors?”…

Paul Dale Roberts sent me an email, he was in a meeting and really needed me to take a call. I was available so I called John and told him I was from the “HPI Paranormal Hotline” and I asked how could I help him. “What kind of ghost is it that can lock doors?” I repeated to him what he’d said making sure I heard right. He woke up one night and his bedroom door had been locked from the inside. I asked him, does he sleep with anyone at night that can vouch that he doesn’t sleep walk?

John believes he doesn’t sleep walk. He doesn’t think he locked the door himself and he says he hears ticking noises; sleeps with the light on because something wakes him up at 4 am in the morning and has woken up with scratches on his arms – three to be exact. Some believe this a sign of a demonic presence. Last, but not least he feels that he is psychic. He claims to be able to change the outcome of events, namely games. According to him he has made the Green Bay Packers win. He also says that he has to be psychic because he is a Virgo and the youngest child. I myself am not familiar with any folklore about Virgos and the youngest children being psychic. According to John, his parents saw how much being psychic drained him and took him to see a doctor. They called him a paranoid schizophrenic and he is now on medication.

Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia says,
Not to be confused with Schizoid personality disorder, Schizotypal personality disorder, Schizoaffective disorder, or Schizophasia.

Schizophrenia (/ˌskɪtsɵˈfrɛniə/ or /ˌskɪtsɵˈfriːniə/) is a mental disorder characterized by a breakdown of thought processes and by poor emotional responsiveness.[1] It most commonly manifests itself as auditory hallucinations, paranoid or bizarre delusions, or disorganized speech and thinking, and it is accompanied by significant social or occupational dysfunction. The onset of symptoms typically occurs in young adulthood. [2] Diagnosis is based on observed behavior and the patient’s reported experiences.

Many people in the paranormal field feel Schizophrenia is a misdiagnosis for many psychics and mediums. After reading this I agree it sounds like every psychic I know. To any outsider looking at what a psychic medium experiences or tries to communicate from beyond is going to look odd, strange and maybe a bit insane or paranoid. Some might think it is bizarre or a delusion. We can believe in ghost, but some how it’s not OK to see them or hear them. I’ve seen so called “crazy” people walking the streets screaming at seemingly nothing. At times I have seen that there was in fact something there. Maybe those spirits are what drove the person crazy or they aren’t crazy at all. Unfortunately there was no way for me to tell if it was a condition or really paranormal in Johns case.

The medication he takes makes it harder to read him psychically. For him it suppresses the noise, the feelings, the activity, and it also suppressed his sexual functions, therefore he asked his doctor to lower the dosage so that he can remain sexually functional. The only problem is the paranormal began to stir within his home once more with a lower dosage. He told me he  doesn’t know if it is his condition or paranormal. He was hoping to get that answer from me.

When I asked him what he thought; was it his condition or ghost? He leaned towards the paranormal only after he’d woke up with his door locked. The door could just be broke. HPI would check it out, but he lives in Wisconsin.

He wants to developed his psychic abilities more, but it drains him. I advised against developing his psychic abilities if it was taking a toll on his health. The medicine suppressing all of his functions weren’t going to work for him in the psychic department, but against him which would only drain him more. I am not a doctor. I can’t advise him to stop taking medication just to be more psychic. The best advice I had was to deal with the problem at hand for now. I suggested he do a house blessing. Something Paul told me about sometime ago. John was excited when I told him what to do. Thrilled even. It was the first emotion I’d heard in the whole conversation. He said he would try it and will  let me know how it went. Then he excitedly hung up.

He was concerned in the beginning of our conversation that I just wanted to debunk everything. I assured him that wasn’t my job. My job was to find out how to help him and to get the facts that may lead us to the truth. “If your home isn’t haunted, then why would I scare you, by telling you it is. I just don’t want to assume anything.” He seemed to understand that. But it wasn’t until I gave him a solution, a solution to combat the paranormal that he really was happy. I felt he was joyful because someone actually cared enough not to assume he was crazy or assume it’s just his mental condition based on the fact he was labeled Schizophrenic. I know that he could in reality be having these experiences and if that is the case I don’t want him wishing someone would believe him. The help I’ve offered is harmless and has stopped paranormal activity in the past. I’m looking forward to his update in the near future.

“Learned helplessness is the giving-up reaction, the quitting response that follows from the belief that whatever you do doesn’t matter.” -Arnold Schwarzenegger

The word “belief” is a difficult thing for me. I don’t believe. I must have a reason for a certain hypothesis. Either I know a thing, and then I know it – I don’t need to believe it.

I feel a bit blessed, we live in the bottom apartment of the house I grew up in. This apartment was the residence of the woman who owned the place. When we moved in it had been 4 years since her passing and close to 10 years since the passing of her cat, a massive orange tomcat named Monrico. After he died we would have scratches develop on the walls at cat stretch height, visitors would see him out of the corner of their eyes and sometimes when you were laying on a couch you would get a massive weight on your chest and the intense odor of Fancy Feast (chicken and fish with jelly, that is NOT a smell you forget) blown into your face.  The woman experienced a stroke a year or so after Monrico died and when I would visit I would see her in her bed with him around her feet. She knew he was there, I knew he was there and I knew that if I sat near her feet, he would scratch the heck out of my back like he did when he was alive.

I have encounters between myself, Phalen and the woman but this piece is about Phalen and Monrico.
I did not tell my husband or son about the cat when we moved in. Did not share that after the cat’s passing I would see him around the house, all three apartments. Our first night in the place we heard noises, the scritch of a cat in a litter box then the thudthudthud of an animal running pell mell from the back room to the front of the house and back again a few times. He asked me if a stray might have gotten in the house and I responded with a chuckling no. He turned on every light in the house just before the noises started up again, as the sound passed us there was a thump and our ‘timeout’ stool went up on one leg and then down with a clatter. The noises stopped for night.
Next morning Phalen is laughing in his crib, he seems to be playing with something that I could see but my husband could not. I asked Phalen who he was playing with and he said “big big kitty meow”. I asked him what color, he said ‘olange’. He played with Monrico all day, would sit in his highchair petting the air while he ate his meals. Then play chase, back and forth along the same path shouting “kitty kitty KITTY!” then he stopped mid run and looked at me, confused “kitty gone”.
Phalen tells me most of the time when he sees Monrico, once or twice a month. Has told his grandparents and gotten very mad at them when they asked if his not real kitty is coming to play. He has also ‘introduced’ Monrico to Rowan and Ronan, his twin little brothers, since they started ‘playing’ with the noncorporeal cat a few months ago. Phalen came into the nursery where they were playing kitty chase, he shouted “Kitty is back!” and all three of them, and the glinting eyes of a cat (on our video monitor) played for hours.
Sometimes when the boys are asleep and I’m up alone I sit on the bed and read, I feel the bed jostle and heavy footprints make their way across the down comforter and a large kittyloaf dent settles next to me. It makes me laugh, our lease says no furred pets and yet we have a cat.

Haunted Bella Maggiore Inn

By Suzanne Grace

Possible Spirit Manifestation

While recently working with my partner on where to investigate next, I came across a local hotel in Ventura, CA. Now, we’ve investigated many facilities – hotels, apartment buildings, private homes – but none seemed as fitting for an audience as the Bella Maggiore Inn. Built in 1927, it still holds the charm of its era, although bathrooms and showers are now inside the rooms rather than the communal used back in the day.

I decided to take a trip out to see it; it was mid-day and an absolutely gorgeous one at that. Being approximately 30 minutes from my home, I knew it would be a lovely drive filled with flowing fields and glimpses of the ocean. Fortunately, I was able to get parking right in front as with this part of “old town” Ventura, parking is a premium (and an easy run from the hotel just in case)!

I went into the hotel and met the lady at the front desk. She was kind enough to allow me to walk through the facility, taking all the photos I wanted, with our last stop being room 17 – THE ROOM!

I walked into the room and was overpowered by a rose scent – as though someone has doused themselves in rose perfume or powder. Immediately, I felt “her” presence. She wasn’t aggressive, more curious. I looked around the room, took some pictures and said good-bye to the staff. I had asked them refrain from giving me any history as I wanted to be able to “read” it for myself and I knew my partner, Shannon would as well.

As soon as I got into my car, I was “shown” what had taken place in Room 17 and why Sylvia – the resident ghost – is still occupying it. During the 1930s, Sylvia was a prostitute and was found dead by hanging in her room. Many just presumed that this was due to a suicide but my immediate impression was she had been murdered. Sylvia, the spirit, felt it important to show me exactly what had taken place and it wasn’t a pretty picture. Considering in the 30s that prostitution was a job just like any other, those women who were, were given the same respect as a piece of dirt.

I called Shannon and told her we had the perfect place! I gave her no details, sent her none of the photos I had taken and later that night she called and said, Sylvia was murdered – I hate to say it but I laughed – not at Sylvia’s expense, but due to the fact that we were both being given the same impressions. We chatted for a while, compared notes and new we had a gem on our hands!

Is the hotel really haunted?

As the night of our investigation approached, we could barely contain ourselves. We were excited as we knew she would make contact with us and give our guests a fun time – fun if you like being touched, cold, and brushed up against anyway!

We arrived and met our guests; we set up our electronic monitoring equipment, cameras and of course food and beverages for a long night. We didn’t have to wait long for Sylvia to make herself known. One of our guests was sitting in a chair next to where she was found dead (and of course we didn’t tell her this) and immediately she was freezing. Sylvia had arrived!

We spent many hours that night taking photos – and we have many orbs to share – but I believe the best part of the night was when we placed both a candle and a piece of candy on the floor. We asked Sylvia to move the flame – and she did. We asked her to move the candy – and she DID! She was literally excited to have the attention and we loved it as well. The candy was moved about 4 to 5 inches and the flame shot up about 4 inches from its base.

Sylvia has a propensity for men; she loves them! One of our guests, the Security Guard from the hotel, was sitting on the bed and we asked him if he was married, etc. He said no. Our monitors went crazy! It said RING, WEDDING, WIFE, KIDS and more words pointing toward the fact that he wasn’t being honest and Sylvia was letting us know (at the end of the night he did fess up that Sylvia was correct). The orb photos of this man while he was sitting on the bed are amazing and show she was right there with him. When I felt her move toward the bathroom, a guest took a photo of me at my instruction and low and behold, I have a large orb above my head (and a few others as well).

While we happened to get used to the smell of the rose perfume, other guests in the hotel would stop by and ask about it. It is thick in the air, cloying, and can be smelled far down the hallway when she is around. The rose smell itself never leaves the room either. No matter what food you bring in, perfumes you use, etc., it is always there.

We made a second trip to the hotel and learned more about the history of it; there was a man who had dropped his baby from the 3rd floor and other such mysterious deaths and murders. None of this has been proven, unlike Sylvia’s and may just be folklore. On our second trip we ventured throughout the hotel rather than just stay in the room and took shots of orbs going up the stairs and in other sitting rooms throughout the hotel. Sylvia wasn’t present that night and while we were disappointed, we knew that this is a risk you take when investigating facilities. You can have a ton of action one night and it be quiet as a mouse the next. While both Shannon and I feel that Sylvia would like to be crossed over, we also know that when the time is right she will call us to come back.

Sylvia? We are waiting!

Could a Mega-Tsunami
Wipe Out the Eastern Seaboard?
Fictional Account Based on Scientific Fact
Reveals Real Threat

As scientists have been baffled by earthquakes in the U.S. and a tsunami in Japan, there is one thing some of them seem to agree on – something really bad is about to happen and it’s going to happen soon.

That’s the news uncovered by New York Times best-selling novelist Steve Alten from the research he performed for his new book, Phobos: Mayan Fear (www.stevealten.com), a fictional tale of the Mayan 2012 doomsday prediction. His story incorporates the very real existence of a volatile volcano in the Canary Islands that some scientists believe could pose a catastrophic threat to the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. What’s worse is that many believe the volcano is close to erupting.

“Scientists have been tracking this since 2001,” said Alten. “Ten years ago, Dr. Simon Day, of the Benfield Greig Hazard Research Centre at University College London, predicted that if the volcano, called Cumbre Vieja, was to erupt, it would cause a landslide, which in turn would create a massive mega-tsunami. Moving at roughly the speed of a commercial jet, these waves would be about 100 to 160 feet high by the time they crossed the Atlantic to strike U.S. shores.”

What’s worse is that El Hierro, another volcano only 80 miles from Cumbro Viejo, is set to erupt soon.

“At the end of September, the Canary Islands government raised the alert level for the El Hierro volcano in the Canary Islands (Spain) to ‘Yellow,’ the highest alert status since an unprecedented earthquake swarm commenced in mid-July,” Alten added. “Now, that volcano won’t cause a massive tsunami, but I can’t imagine that a volcano erupting 80 miles away from another more volatile volcano is something that will add to the geologic stability of the region.”

Alten’s research for his book also revealed that most scientists don’t consider a Cumbro Viejo eruption just a possibility. They believe it is a probability.

“Dr. Steven Ward from the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics at the University of California co-authored a paper with Dr. Day in which he stated that in the case of Cumbro Viejo, it is not a matter of if, but rather, a matter of when.”

According to the paper, entitled “Cumbre Vieja Volcano – Potential collapse and tsunami at La Palma, Canary Islands,” the volcano would cause a massive landslide on the island of La Palma, forcing a massive chunk of land into the ocean. Immediately thereafter, an unprecedented mountain of water about 3,000 feet high would form and crest only to collapse and rebound back into the ocean. The tsunami would cover about 155 miles in about 10 minutes, and rumble past 500 miles per hour as it spread through the Atlantic toward the U.S. coast. Waves as high as 164 feet would pound the lower part of the Eastern Seaboard.

“People were surprised by the earthquakes here in the states and shocked at the Japanese tsunami,” Alten said. “I may be a writer of fiction, but when it is based on facts this strong and this compelling, I can tell you I won’t be surprised when we get a tsunami warning to evacuate to East Coast. After all, the facts have been here the whole time.”
